Hello All!

Today I decided to be brave, and after seeing Lisa’s notebook she made for her Mum using the kit, I knew I wanted to use the idea of the embroidery thread in a project. The green colour for stems and buttons for flowers was just a great idea. However, I have NEVER used embroidery thread in my journal project pages or ephemera before, so I decided to bite the bullet and face the needle and thread!

Firstly, I took the wooden frame and placed it over pieces of the postcard to see which parts would suit it best. I then added the white journaling card as a background. To add more texture, I used the yellow felt pieces to layer on the back with hot glue. Next, I roughly sew the thread around the frame to create a ‘vine’ effect, which buttons as flower heads. To add even more interest, the 3Ps finished it off: pins, pearls and a paperclip.

How much texture that isn’t paper can you add to a page?

I feel it looks very rough around the edges, like a school-child’s project, but that’s okay, because nothing is perfect, I wanted it to look like vines wrapping around the frame to add texture and it is for my journal and for no one else! Be brave and don’t be afraid to try things – if they don’t work out as you’d hope, then thats okay too!

I literally threw this together in a few minutes sat at my desk wanting a crafty fix. I plugged the glue gun in, raked through my kit and attacked it from all angles. To say I did not know where this was going, I am pleased with this as it will add layers, texture, depth and interest to my page! Give it a go and try something new today and let me know what you create.
