The mini kits have been made for us this month by the second of our small business collaborations ‘Heart Felty‘. Heart Felty is the wonderful creation by Michelle. I was so thrilled when I found Michelle and just LOVE these mini DIY kits that she’s made for us.
Inside are a set of simple instructions for you, but Michelle has also kindly put together some instruction for us to follow here on the blog. See below.
Before I go on to those though, I thought it would be fun to find out a little more about Michelle and her company ‘Heart Felty‘.
Michelle: ‘I have been running my small business, Heart Felty from my home in Staffordshire since 2012 – hand designing and making felt based gifts, cards and decorative items. All are hand designed and drawn, hand cut and hand sewn making each item unique. I always use felt where possible but I love to also include different types of fabrics (including hessian and especially vintage and pre-loved fabrics) as well as interesting and old buttons.
My inspiration comes mainly from the ‘designs’ of the natural world and the changing shapes, textures and colours all around us. I very much look to these as I design and create my pieces. I particularly enjoy the colours of Autumn and these shades run continuously through my work.
I sell most of my work by taking custom orders online through my website and Facebook page but I also have some of my items for sale in local gift shops and museums.
I’m also a qualified teacher and tutor and regularly teach felt crafting courses and sessions (usually based around the construction of particular items eg. Make a flower posy brooch).
In my spare time I love to draw and have very recently extended this hobby into another branch of my business’.
