Last year , I have decided to make cards for my crafty friends.

I know that they will appreciate the love and effort that I have poured into it.

This month , I am not using any kit.  I have used my watercolours to create my cards.

This one is an easy one and I must say that I really enjoyed the whole process.

I always loved watercoloring ( not that I am very good at it..) because it is very forgiving.

If you make a slight mistake , you can always blot it.

I used cotton rag watercolour paper to paint on my image.

I divided one  whole sheet ( A4) into four.  This will give me a near enough size to fit into my card blanks.

You can use any size that you want , and you can also use other watercolour paper.  I just love the cotton rag ones for special occasions.

I am painting a bauble that is hanging off a branch of a tree.

First , look for a lid cover or a jar that will fit nicely in the middle of your paper.  I used a candle jar as it is  the only one that seems to fit.

Then choose the colours you’re going to paint your bauble with.   As I am mass making , I have chosen 4 different colours for my baubles.

Don’t forget to wet your watercolour paint first before starting  – this wakes them up and they would be more easy to use.

Apply paint on the rim of your jar or jar cover.  Then stamp on the paper to create a  circle.

Fill in the circle with the same colour paint , but don’t forget to leave a highlight.  Use the circle as your guide.

Now let’s paint gold accents to make it look like  a bauble.

But first grab your jar again and apply gold paint to the rim of the jar or lid, and use it like a stamp to put gold edge on your circle.

By doing this , you are sure to have a perfect circle.

If you do not have gold paint, you can use a gold gel pen or a gold posca pen.

Using the same gold paint , I then painted lines , foliage , simple doodles and the hanging cap ( Im not sure whether this is the right term..) of the bauble.

I used a very thin watercolour brush for this.

As before , you can use gold gel pen or gold post pen if you don’t have gold watercolour paint to draw your doodles.

Use a white gel pen to add more doodles on your bauble.  I mainly put white dots on most of my bauble images.

So far , this is looking so plain.  So, let’s  add foliage.

Using brown watercolour paint  , I painted a branch at the top.  I then drew a string to which the bauble is appearing to hanging from with a black pen later.

For the foliage use green watercolour and add wispy strokes to create a pine needles.

Using a black gel pen , I drew the string to make the bauble look like it is hanging from the branch.

I then cut the watercolour paper to fit the card blanks – 4 inches x 5.5 inches.

To finish it off  , I applied gold paste on the edges of the watercolour paper. This will just make it stand out from the card and make the card look more festive.

I then glued the image to the card blank.

Lastly , I stamped Christmas sentiment to complete the card.  You can  also write the sentiment down using a black pen or even a coloured pen.

And that is it ! I have made my Christmas cards for this year!  All I need to do is write on them and send them off .

It was lovely to be able to just sit down and play with my watercolour paints.

I am so happy how this has turned out and I can’t wait to send them all off.

I hope this has inspired you to play with your paints too and create.

Till next time my dear crafty friend.

Lots of crafty hugs, Sheryll
