Creating with Circles (and lots of photos!)

Hi Lollipop Friends,

We are well into May and I’m back with one more 12 x 12 layout using the fun ‘Here Comes the Sun’ April Kit. I had a bunch of photos from an April outing from 2021 that I wanted to document. Usually, I include 1 or 2 photos on a scrapbooking page but this time I wanted to use all 8! The kit includes quite a few circle items so I used that as my starting point inspiration.

I cut all of my photos in various sized cicles and then I began to play! My favourite part! I trialled various placement options before settling on the final positions. My idea was to overlap the photos, grouping them together. For my main photo cluster, I placed my largest photo at the top, partially off the page. I then added a selection of smaller photos below it, with one final photo cluster on the bottom right of my page.  To add a bit of colour and interest, I backed each photo with the pretty patterned papers from the kit.

At this point, I really felt like my page needed something, and obviously that something was a sunshine! Using a large sunburst stencil, my stencil brush and art crayons to build my sun, I set to work, concentrating the colour at the centre of the sunburst. I ensured that the centre was placed behind one of the photos so that the pic would look a bit like the middle of the sun.

Now it was time to embellish! I pulled out all the circle elements of the kit and dotted them in-between my photos. Two little tabs from the die cut pack were ideal folded in half and stapled to two of my photos, with little word stickers stuck on. I cut out three of the banner text pieces from one of the patterned papers and had to include the little cloud ephemera piece with it’s heart-shaped raindrops!

For my title, I used my Sizzix Big Shot to cut out the word ‘hello’ multiple times. I cut it once from the raindrop patterned paper, and 3-4 times from scrap card. Layering these on top of each other with liquid adhesive, I created a faux chipboard title piece. I loved the ‘sunshine’ title die cut included in this months kit which was perfect to add to my title, along with the little ‘April’ sticker from the sticker sheet. The little phrase stickers in the kit were ideal for including as part of my journaling. Finally, I added in a few of the teeny alpha stickers and some stamping, to document where and when.  To finish off my page, I added 3 little turquoise gems to three areas on my layout.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you have seen a new idea or two and get a chance to have some fun creating with the lovely April Kit this weekend!

Much love,

Monique 💗
