Hey lovely peeps! How are you all doing ?

I know most of us keep a journal and document precious moments .

What do you journal about ?   Do you document those precious moments only or do you document anything ?  Big things , special occasions and even the little things ?

When I started journaling , I have only been documenting those moments that have been very significant .  Recently I have realised that there were moments that I feel I should have documented and wished I had documented them back then.

This year , I am making a conscious effort to ensure I journal as much as I can.

My aim is to documents little or mundane  things.   I am sure  in the near future , those little memories will be good to cherish.

Last month,  I booked a swimming session for our beautiful fur baby Poppy .   She has always loved being in the water and would spend hours swimming if we’d let her.

Poppy has been good on human days out and has been patient and will go everywhere with us even if there are lots of people.

So I made sure that I book and activity  that she will enjoy.

Despite it being cold , we  all enjoyed our day and it was lovely to be out and about.

Creating my page layout

I am documenting in my giant junk  journal that I made a few years ago.

On our arrival , we were given a brochure which I used as background.  The brochure showed the layout of the park and where the dogs swam .

I have also  included the wristband in my layout by  attaching it  at the top of the page.

My idea is to create a wave image at the bottom of the page.

I’ve cut the wave shape freehand and used 2 tones of blue gelliprinted paper.   I outlined the darker coloured waves with a white  gel pen to add definition.

The photographs were back with another gelliprint paper and I used a ruler to create the torn edge around the photographs.

Decorating around photographs

The  die cut clouds and speech bubble in my lollipop box bits and bobs came in handy .   I used them  to decorate around my photographs. There was also an  old rainbow wash tape from my stash that I used in my layout.

During the recent patreon zoom chat , I created rosettes using the tissue paper in the kits and used some of the stickers and left over paper that was included in the Horray for Spring kit to decorate the centre my rosette.   I really liked how it added a special touch in my page.

Writing out the title

I wrote “ Splash – Splash “ as my title  for my page at the bottom of the page using a black posca paint.  I added highlights on my letters using a white posca pen.   This made the letters stand out on the page.   I thought that the title was reflective of how Poppy has splished and splashed everyone at the park!

Journaling about my day

The brochure did not really cover both pages, so I used the space for my journaling.  I journaled  about how our day went, what we did and where we went.  Sometimes you don’t really need a lot of space to journal .  You just need enough to document / journal the important stuff.

The finishing touches

With the title in mind , I thought it would be good to add  “droplets of water “ around the photographs using left over gelliprint paper.  Just like the waves, I have hand cut the shapes  and stuck them around the photographs . I added highlights on the droplets using the white posca pen for definition.

I love how this page turned out just how I envisioned it. The page was so simple to put together and I love it !

I hope that this page has inspired you to create a simple layout documenting little memories too.

I would love to know what are the sort of things you document in your journals – let’s inspire each other.

Until next time my lovely friends . Big crafty hugs and lots of love…

X
