Hello friends !
I have a different journal page to share with you today.
One of the things that I like to learn about is mushrooms. I don’t know why , by they fascinate me .
They come in different shape, colour and forms.
Some mushrooms are found on a tree , forests, parklands, etc.
Some are edible, some are poisonous and some are medicinal.
And they grow and found at different times of the year.
If you don’t know already , study of mushroom (or fungi) is called mycology.
The October kit – Toadstool club is just the perfect kit for my mushroom journal page.
What I have found…

I always have find great joy in finding a mushroom and learning about them
The beefsteak mushroom is a particular one that I have read on books.
On one of our walks at a local park , I found one that was growing off a tree!
The excitement was unreal!
And to top it off , it is one of the edible mushrooms that does not have a deadly look a like.
So I took one home and researched how to prepare it and cook it .
Cutting through the mushroom it did look like a steak meat and it ooze this blood coloured fluid.
However, I quickly found that the taste is not to my liking.
Despite this , the experience is something that I will truly cherish.
Another edible mushroom that I was interested in was the Lion’s mane.
They are now a protected species and also grow on trees.
What is interesting is that they have medicinal properties that acts primarily on your brain nerves and digestive system.
As they not very common anymore , I managed to get them in a grow your own kit.
They taste amazing , and they take the flavours you add to them and has a texture like chicken!
Apart from the edibles, there are also not so edible ones.. and likely could give you an upset tummy if you eat them…

So, here is a little catalog of my finds in my journal . I called this page Mushroom finds…
I have a separate journal for my mushroom finds that I write more about them.
It’s almost like I am making. catalog of my finds for myself.
I am hoping to find more and learn about them.
So , I keep my eyes open when I am on a woodland walk on a different place because you’ll never know what you will find!
What did I use on the page ?
I used the paper and stickers from the kit , and also used some bits from the September kit too ( stickers mainly).
I think they complement the bits from the Toadstool kit.
On each mushroom , I have put their names underneath them to tell what they are.
I also used the journal card from the zine and used it as journal spot.
I kept it really simple as I know the page is going to look busy once the photographs are placed.

Do you keep a catalog of your interests? I also keep a catalog of all the crochet and knitting projects I make.
I would love to know if you do and what you keep a catalog of .
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my rambling about mushrooms. I hope it was interesting for you.
Till next time … lots of crafty hugs,
Sheryll
