In The Secret Garden with Carrie

Hi Lollipops

How are you doing? Things continue to be very odd, life is so different now.  Staying home and safe is becoming the new normal for so many of us. For others, working on the front line is your continued normal,  thank you so much for all that you do!  You all work so hard to keep us safe and well.  This is my second post using the Secret Garden kit here and I had a massive amount of fun making this – I used all my favourite messy techniques  I started as I always do – gesso to prep the page and then added some watercolour paints, a load of wonderful splatters and some stencilling and stamping.

Once the background was dry – I also added some stitching to the background with my sewing machine along with the fabric from the Secret Garden kit. I cut this into strips and frayed the edges before sewing to the page. Once in place I added some paint and splatters, to make this fit into the layout more cohesively.

I used some circle punches to cut shapes from the papers, then outlined them with black pen. I also outlined the super cute stamps and the leaves that came in the kit.  I backed my picture with more of the papers, and created the design of the layout, sticking down the circles and then using foam tape to add some depth behind the picture.

To finish off the layout I added the little daisy and the pink gems.  This layout turned out beautifully. I love it so much!

Next month’s kit is full of beautiful bright sunshiny colours – I can’t wait to create more mixed media goodness with it! These kits are so good for scrapbooking. Other than the paints and other mixed media elements I only use the kits to create my blog post layouts.  They are full of beautiful papers, embellishments and other lovely elements that are perfect for scrapbooking.

Until next month please all take care, take some time to create something beautiful and brighten your day and all stay safe.

Carrie xo
