You and Me Journal Page – by Sarah

Hello! Sarah here today with my first page in my Spring mini album using the Hopes and Dreams kit.

I have to say I did a little happy dance when I saw this kit as the colours work so perfectly with the album I have made using older kit stash and gelli plate prints.

I decided to start with my favourite paper from the kit as a background. I love how busy and fun it is and as I always need some mixed media on my page I added some gelliprint hearts I traced and cut out. The hearts help break up the pattern a bit and add a different kind of photo mat for my pictures.

One of my favourite ways to use photos is to cut them out of the background. It’s feels very nostalgic to me as I used to make photo collages as a teen. It’s also handy if the background is dark or has people in it.

This month ephemera is so adorable I added some layered up around the page on foam to add some dimension. I also added some tiny word stickers on top. The papers included some border strips to cut out. I added them to the top and bottom of the page.

I added another piece of ephemera to one of the tags to add my journalling. I tucked the tag in between the pages where I’d left a small gap unglued.

Finally I added my usual metallic watercolour splashes around the page and it was done.
