Let’s Make Easter Decorations with Philippa

.

Hello Lollipop lovers!

I absolutely love the ‘Smile it’s Spring’ March kit here!

Opening my box, with the contents wrapped in vibrant green tissue and discovering the gorgeous papers and all the bits and pieces really made me smile. The stickers with the adorable bunnies immediately made me think of Easter (and chocolate)!

I’ve been collecting Easter decorations for a few years now and usually add to my collection each year, however, this year that hasn’t been possible so I decided to make a few of my own!

During my cupboard clear out which you may have read about over on the FB chat group I discovered a little papier mache bird house and some hanging egg shapes so I thought it was about time I put them to good use!!

I started by tearing some of the green tissue paper into small pieces and also the some of the blue part of the cloud tissue. I applied the tissue to the egg forms using watered down white glue, layering them to get a good depth of colour. Whilst they were drying

I cut strips of the green chevron design from the little paper bag and when the eggs were dry these were applied around the centre of each egg, using the watered down glue to adhere.

I embellished the front of the eggs with stickers from the kit and used some coordinating ribbon from my stash to tie a bow on the top of each egg. I felt they needed something extra so I added some fussy cut flowers from paper in my stash, the little white dots are the waste from a border punch that I used on the bird house!

Next I turned my attention to the little bird house using papers from the kit to cover the roof and sides. I added decoration using a border punch, die cut foliage, fussy cut tiny blue flowers from one of the ephemera pieces and some additional flowers cut from paper scraps.

A bird house wouldn’t be complete without a little bird poking its head out so I cut the head off an old decoration and managed to fit it in the hole!

I photographed my creations outside in my garden where, with all the daffodils in bloom it really does feel like Spring has finally arrived!

I hope I’ve inspired you to make some Easter decorations. A great way to keep the children occupied!

Don’t forget to post pictures over in the FB chat group of your makes.

Happy Easter
