It’s finally summer ! We have been having beautiful warm ( too warm at times) and sunny weather and we have been having a very good harvest of strawberries in our garden.
In my previous blogpost , I shared how I wanted to transform our garden and one of the things I did is to replant all the strawberry runners . So , I now have plenty of plants that is giving me lots of lovely fruits.
Every year , I always make a supply of fruit jam that I keep and consume throughout the year. The fruits I use are either harvested from our garden or foraged.
A few years ago, Lisa has shared her recipe journal,
I love this idea and this has given me so much inspiration to create one .
I have started to collate all the recipes that I had tried and tested and know that my daughter love. Other recipes that I have included in my recipe journal are foods from our home country ( Philippines ) and some recipes that I have adapted and loved since living in the UK.
My paternal grandmother was a very good cook and so is my father , but I have always regretted that I didn’t pay enough attention during those times that I was helping my grandmother cook food for family gatherings. She has always been an instinctive cook.
As I grew older , I have grown to love cooking and baking.
I would now love to pass that love of cooking ( and baking) and pass those Filipino traditional recipes to my daughter so that she continues to pass on that heritage to her future children.
I was so excited when I learned what this month’s kit theme is , and thought that the strawberry shortcake kit is the perfect kit to use in creating the page for my recipe.

The first thing I did is to print off the recipe and the photographs that I am going to use.
Creating the Page
To create the page , I had to glue 2 pieces of kit papers together – one from the kit and another from my stash.
I then created an extension to the left of the page ( about an inch wide) , as I would need to punch the holes to put the page in my planner.
I also used a decorative punch to add an extra detail on the page.

Putting the layout together
I didn’t go crazy with this one…
The front page is where I have put the recipe.
I then cut the recipe to size and backed it with the pink paper from the kit . I have also fussy cut the strawberry from the cut apart card to decorate and used the alpha stickers to spell out the recipe name.
At the back of the page, I used some of the stickers that is included in the kit to decorate and have glued a photograph. that I have backed with pink paper to help it stand out on the page.
Remember that tag with the fabric stapled at the top? I have cut that in half and used the top part and layered it with a sentiment from the cut apart card, and glued it towards the top of the age.
I love that the fabric is sticking out at the top when you close the journal.

So , this is now ready for me to journal on these memories about strawberry jam.
I really love how this page turned out ! The pops of red and pink colour is just so cute.
I am so happy that I have managed to add another recipe on this journal.
So, are you creating a recipe journal too? What sort of recipes are you keeping and documenting? I would love to know.
Till next time my crafty friends…
Lots of Crafty hugs,
Sheryll
