We celebrated our 25 year anniversary with a very floral theme.

“Flores de Mayo” which means Flowers of May is a festival back home ( Philippines) celebrating all things flowers.

I guess it’s the same here in the UK where late spring showcases lots of beautiful flowers.

It gave me a sense of nostalgia just thinking how beautiful the festival is .

Ladies would be dressed in beautiful Filipino gowns, called ‘Baro’t saya”  and escorted by men dressed in our traditional suit called ‘Barong Tagalog”.

We were all wearing modern filipiniana clothes and hubby dressed in “Barong Tagalog” for the first time.

He looked do handsome!

The July Flower and Garden Festival kit is definitely on theme for my journaling.

Creating the Ephemera

But first, I made ephemera that I am planning to use on my page / layout.

To make the ephemera, I have just put together pieces of the kit paper ,the cut part washi strips and stickers to create them.

It is that simple…

Creating the journal layout /page

I was not sure how to approach this to start with.

One of the invitation had faux petals included and I sort of wanted to have something hanging out at the side of the book.

So, I glued the petals and it looked adorable!

I then glued the invitation on to the page.   This will serve as a pocket later on … you’ll see!

As usual I have backed the photos, so they stand out from the page.

I used to ephemera I made to decorate some of the photos and also journal on.

In the middle of the page , there was a pocket, so I covered that with a photograph and ephemera.

I tucked our name cards that had what we ate that night.

I also tucked a journal card that I made from the kit items, that I journaled on and tucked into the pocket too.

As mention earlier, I used the invitation envelope to tuck the rest of the photos .

The ephemera helped me put this page together quickly than I anticipated and it really made it easy for me to put things together.

The celebration was so memorable as I got to see friends that I came with to the UK 25 years ago.  It was lovely to catch up with them.

So, how did you use your kit ?  I would love to know.

‘Till next time!

Lots of crafty hugs , Sheryll
