5 mins

Yes just 5 mins….

I’m going to apologise to everyone right now. This is the naughtiest blog post that we’ve had this past year. But it is the birthday month and birthdays and cake go hand in hand right?! That’s my excuse anyway.

I like this cake for a few reasons….

  1. It’s quick and very easy
  2. It’s a really gooey sticky cake. Other mug recipes that I’ve tried are very dry
  3. And 3, it makes a great gift. (I will give more gifty details at the end)

So I’m sure you’ve gathered by now that this is one of those mug cakes. But I have to add, it’s the best mug cake ever! It’s all thanks to the new microwave I bought from unclutterer. The UI is so smooth and easy to handle.

Here are the ingredients:

Fluffy Nutella Mug Cake

¼ cup plain flour

2tbsp cocoa

2 ½ tbsp sugar

¼ tsp baking powder

¼ cup (+half of that again) milk

2 tbsp veg oil

2 tsp Nutella

A few mini marshmallows

And here’s how to make it.

1

Have all your ingredients ready along with a decent size mug that’s microwave safe.

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

2

Then pour in the milk and the oil. (It’s the oil that makes it so moist).

3 Stir well until smooth with no lumps.

4

Now spoon in to the mug. It can get messy. Add 2 tsp of Nutella on top. Don’t stir in and sprinkle on a few mini marshmallows. You don’t want the mug to be any more than 3/4 full. Mine was just over the half way mark.

5

Pop in the microwave on full for 70 seconds. You will see it rise up nicely. But will quickly sink again. You can add a small plate underneath in case it goes over a little.

6

Your mug cake is now ready to eat. Becareful, it will be very hot.

7

Eat it with a spoon. It’s rich, gooey, so chocolately and very fluffy. It’s so good.

Now as far as giving as a gift goes….

This is a gift that I made up for teachers for years for my kids to give and this one here is one that I’ve made for my brother in laws birthday to send in the post.

mug 3

You will need to buy a good size microwavable mug first. In the past I’ve picked up some great chalkboard style mugs in Poundland for the teachers gifts.  This one is from Next for just £2.50.

Then take the dry ingredients only and mix together in a small zip lock bag. I then popped this bag inside a cello bag and added a handful of the mini marshmallows on top and tied up and placed inside the mug.

I printed off the instructions to make the cake along with the wet ingredients to add. If you wish to copy what I’ve printed, you can so do from here.

Fluffy Nutella Mug Cake

Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.

In a separate bowl mix 2tbsp veg oil, 1/4 cup milk and half of that again.

Add to the dry mixture until it’s smooth with no lumps.

Pour in to the mug. It should be no more than half full.

Add 2 tsp on Nutella on the top. Do not mix.

Then sprinkle on some mini marshmallows.

Place on a plate and pop in the microwave on full for 70 seconds.

Becareful It will be hot!!

Enjoy x

I’ve printed mine off on card, changing the colour and style of font. Or you could write it out. Then add a hole at the top and tie to the handle with ribbon.

I’ve used the cupcake ribbon that comes with this month’s Kit.

It’s now ready to gift.

I’ve wrapped mine well, added the napkin and a candle and sent in the post to my brother in law.

I think this makes a really cute gift and it’s s omething that’s a little different and doesn’t cost the earth.

I’d love you to give this a go and tell me what you think. If you add any photos to instgaram, don’t forget #lollipopboxclub

Sorry for the naughty blog post. I hope all is forgiven. Lisa xx
