Hi there Lollipop friends!

Travel has been very much on my mind recently, partly because I’ve had to apply for a new passport! Where have the last ten years gone?! Before I sent off my old passport I’d been looking at the various visas and stamps I’d accumulated from my travels (outside of Europe) and taking a trip down memory lane. When my ‘Sending hugs and kisses’ kit arrived I knew immediately I had to do something with the paper with travel stamps on it! Thrilled that one of them said India/Delhi I dug out my Travel junk journal to make a spread…….

I made the journal a while ago inspired by Lisa. I used a vintage Ladybird book and lots of map pages from an old Atlas. I’m lucky enough to have travelled quite a bit and I have an El Camino bracelet which I am slowly adding beads to for all the countries I’ve visited, my idea was to use the junk journal simply to record the countries for the beads I have so far. For this project I decided to do a spread recording my visit to India in 2017.

When I met up with my daughter in Delhi, we hadn’t seen each other for just over two years since she left the UK in 2014 to go to Australia. Quite an emotional reunion, lots of hugs and kisses! We began our adventure in Delhi and what an adventure we had! Over the course of seven weeks we travelled the length of India with no set plan apart from the first 10 days!

I started my spread by making a little flip up jotter using strips of the grid papers, an old receipt and a business card. I stapled the papers together and decorated the top with a scalloped band cut from another of the papers. I added the India stamp, some ribbon in the colours of India and a little snippet of sari trim. The tiny black & white phot was taken when Abi and I met at Delhi airport!

The opposite page was part of a map of India and I used a couple of arrows from the kit and the pointing finger to show some of the places we visited. I used one of the little envelopes to make a tuck spot for some hidden journalling . Ephemera pieces, cut aparts, a heart shaped paper clip, ticket and Mrs Brimbles stickers decorate the front of the envelope along with a photo of the two of us at the Taj Mahal.

The Hello tag was perfect for some extra journalling as was one of the tabs to add to the top of the page in the Asia section of my junk journal.

This kit has made me want to do more pages in my journal so I just need to hurry up and meet my self imposed end of January deadline for finishing my December journal then I can crack on!

Have fun creating and as always, don’t forget to share photos of your work, we all love to see how the kits are used.

I’ll be back next month with another project, until then

Happy Crafting!

Love Philippa
