I started with a piece of plain white 12×12 cardstock and a piece of cardboard that I’ve just cut from a box. I’ve torn off the top layer to reveal the corrugated piece underneath. I love that texture. I also have some map squares, the title and the printout which all come with the kit. The printouts are designed just for us here at Lollipop and are so much fun to use in a whole variety of ways.

I like to leave a little of the top layer of the card showing and add some white. I love the Tim Holtz Distress Stains for this. They have a small sponge applicator and apply so easily, plus they dry fast. I’m quite an impatient crafter, so that’s a big bonus for me.

Time for the paint next. With my piece of card stuck in place I want to paint around the outside. I’ve used a small tester pot from a DIY store. I dipped it in the paint just the once and the rest of the time it’s been dipped in the water. Be careful though not to make your page too wet.

5

I added a little of the pale blue paint too, to break up the turquoise. And leave to dry.

7

The LO now can be pieced together. I printed my photo to a 6x6cm size.

8

My printout has been cut out and I’ve stuck the pieces down and doodled around the outside.

9

Once everything is stuck in place, I want to add a border around the outside and some journaling lines too.

10

I’ve chosen to sew but you could also use a pen instead of sewing if you prefer. My paper piercer is one of the best tools that I’ve ever bought.

My Jouney

It’s then sewn and journaled. The LO is now finished. I’ve documented all the places where I have lived. A map themed kit doesn’t have to be all about trips and holidays. There are plenty of other journeys that we take. This is mine.

Thanks for sharing this with me today.
