Starting a New Journal with Chloé

Hi everyone,
.
I hope you’re all well! Chloé here today with a very special journal. I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby (a baby born after a loss) and I decided to start a little pregnancy journal to document this time. We all know that the Lollipop Box is perfect for creative journaling, so that’s what I gravitated towards for this project.
.
The Time to Shine kit doesn’t immediately jump out as one to use if you’re documenting a pregnancy, but I hope I’ve shown that any supplies can work for any project. It just depends how you put them together! This one was also slightly out of my comfort zone in terms of colour palette, but I’m happy with how it came together. These photos were taken before the journaling, which will fill the white space on the right-hand page.
.

As always, I started by backing one of the pages with a paper from the kit. I think of my creative journal spreads as mini scrapbook layouts, so I don’t mind filling up a whole space with patterned paper. This left-hand page holds a photo of a rainbow we saw the day before finding out I was pregnant; I backed it with the teal watercolour paper from the kit, and put together a title using various embellishments. It turned out really cute! I used stars and die cuts from the box to create a small embellishment cluster.
.

The right-hand page holds a selfie and a photo of my first positive tests. I decided to overlap these, securing the top photo as a flip-up element. I did this the lazy way, just using a sticker on the top side and some washi on the underside! The flip-up gave me more space for journaling, but I was also able to include some positive affirmations on the underside too. I love doing this, it adds a bit of interest and an interactive element to the page. One of my favourite things about creative journaling is that it’s so tactile, and this definitely adds to that. For continuity between the two pages I added a strip of the rainbow scallop paper down the side, and used some of the tiny tile stickers to title the photo.
.
That’s all from me today! I hope you liked seeing the beginnings of this journal, I can’t wait to fill it with all my photos. As always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me on YouTube or Instagram.
