Stencilled Backgrounds & Miniature Bunting

Hi Lollipop Friends!

I’m back with a new layout using the ‘Some Bunny Loves You’ March Kit and it was such a fun page to create! I knew exactly which memory I wanted to document as soon as I saw the cute little bunny ephemera piece in this kit. For World Book Day a few years ago, my twins chose their favourite book at the time – ‘Bunny My Honey’. This meant bunny ears and face paint and some sweet photos of the day!

To start my layout, I wanted to create some lovely soft clouds in the background. Rainbow colours are my favourite so that was an obvious choice! Using a gel crayon, I scribbled onto a piece of scrap plastic packaging before using a stencil brush to pick up the colour. I then used a cloud edge stencil and brushed the colour onto my page moving my stencil brush in a circular motion to give a nice smooth distribution of colour. Working from the top of my page, I moved downwards using each colour in turn.

I really wanted to use the pretty fabric from the kit which was perfect for miniature bunting. With my pinking shears in hand, I cut out little triangles and placed them in 3 curved rows. Once happy with the placement, I added a little adhesive to keep them in place, before using my sewing machine to add in some stitching. My photos were backed with patterned paper from the kit and I inked the edges, coordinating with my background.

Before completing my page, I joined in with a lovely Lollipop Patreon creative zoom session where we all spent a fun hour creating pretty embellishments. I used lots of bits and pieces from the kit along with some punches and stencilling. Layering all the components together, I created 3 sweet little embellishment clusters for my page. Once stuck in place, I added in a few sequins, along with my title. I backed my page on a sheet of woodgrain patterned paper and called it complete!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I really hope something you’ve seen inspires a new creative idea and that you find a moment to have some crafting fun with the March Kit too.

Have a happy weekend!

Much love,

Monique 💗
