Cards with Giorgia

Hello, Giorgia here with a new project using this June kit “Happily Ever After”.

For this project I wanted to focus on the vellum sheet included in the kit; I love vellum, you can use it in so many creative ways – for example you can stamp on it, use it in mini albums to create transparencies, or you can make embellishments with it, like I made in these cards!

For the card bases I simply scored in a half the watercolor like paper from the current kit – and another one from a previous kit. The new papers’ weight is just the perfect weight to make card bases!

I added a paper strip in the card centre and another strip onto it; this smaller strip is hand thiered to add texture.

To create the butterflies embellishments I used vellum in two different ways: for this one I used a die cutting machine to cut the butterfly from violet paper from the kit. Then I glued it to a piece of vellum and I cut away the excess.

For this embellishment instead I used the die cutting machine to cut the butterfly directly on vellum that I adhered then onto the green paper.

For both cards I sew the butterfly on a punched scallop circle and I added a tiny sticker from the kit as sentiment. I adhered the embellishment with foam tape to add dimension to the card.

I lift up the butterflies wings to “make them fly” and add even more dimension to the card. So if you wanna make this project remember to not add glue on the wings!
These cards are really simple to make but so effective: I love the transparencies given by the vellum.

I hope you enjoy creating with this kit!

Please let me know if you will give this type of card a try.

Have a good day,

Ciao

Giorgia
