The picture is of my dog Scamper – which is very fitting as wherever he is, is my happy place.  I took this picture in the autumn, you can see that he is surrounded with leaves, which inspired the  layout that I have made.

I started off by gesso-ing the cardstock, this makes it easier to paint.  I then drew some leaves onto the page, painting them with watercolour and adding lots and lots of splatters to the background too.

I layered up lots of the lovely papers and tags behind my photo and popped this to one side.  I then fussy cut elements from the cut apart sheet and the gorgeous cards that Lisa painted herself.

I created a horizontal layer to go behind the picture using the cut apart paper,  distressing the edges of the strips to add some texture and interest to the background.  It was then time to build the composition. I started by adhering the picture to the left hand side of the page. I then added the leaves that I had fussy cut, the elements from the cut apart postcard and the wooden Love word and metal leaf that were in the kit.

I finished off the page by adding some of the gorgeous washi tape to the top and bottom of my picture, some of the sticker leaves around the page and some wooden effect sequins and twine from my stash.

I hope you like this layout – I felt a bit rusty as I was making it as I haven’t done any scrapping for a while.  I hope that it doesn’t show!!

Big hugs,
Carrie xo
