Summer Journal Cover – by Sarah

Hi Sarah here today with a fun and easy to make journal cover. I love to use Traveler’s notebooks for creative journaling and memory keeping, but they quite often come with plain kraft covers and it’s hard to know what’s inside at first glance. Using this months Finding Paradise kit I’ve made a cover leaving no doubt it’s all about summer.

The cutest ever sunshine paper had to be my main pattern so I added wide strips to the front and back covers. I didn’t wrap all the way round to save paper and to avoid having to trim after covering. The amazing hot pink paper has a soft almost fabric like quality so it sat around the spine perfectly and a pink ribbon finished it of nicely also providing a closure when the notebook inevitably chonks out!

In a recent Patreon class we learnt about hand sewing embellishments so I had to put my efforts on the cover for some interesting texture.

Using one of the papers I fussy cut out a lemon and layered a flamingo and summer banner on top. I added a couple of cute gems and a butterfly sticker from an older kit to finish the cluster.

Finally I added more stickers and gems to the top corner to add balance to the cover. A cute palm tree clip through the ribbon closure finished the cover off nicely.

I hope you enjoy the final notebook and I’d love to know how you used the pink specialty paper too.

Happy Crafting
